Please join the Chief Sealth Gay Straight Alliance tomorrow after school as we host a candlelight vigil for Leelah Alcorn, a transgender teenager who recently passed away. We will meet in room 273 at 3:15. Feel free to prepare something to share as we reflect on struggles facing LGBTQ youth today. (Max Shaw, mshaw@seattleymca.org, GSA, Monday 1/26)

Attention TRiO Students: TRiO will be taking a field trip to WWU next Friday, 1/30 from 7:45 AM - 4:30 PM.  Please pick up permission slips in the TRiO office.  Permission slips are due on Wed 1/28.  NO LATE FORMS WILL BE ACCEPTED.  Spots fill up quickly, so get your forms in ASAP! Have you heard the hub-bub about Cocoa and Cram? During morning tutorials this week there will be free hot cocoa to help jumpstart your studying in the Library starting @ 8:00am. It's crunch time! Or how about munch time! Attend tutorials this week and join your fellow studious students in rm 217 Thursday morning for a light breakfast treat. Tutorial attendance will be taken through Kickboard. Don't forget to grab your tutorial attendance ticket from a teacher after getting your study on! If you are a 9th or 10th grader who would like help to prepare for college from one of the top rated college prep programs in the nation with 31 years of experience and success, pick up a University of Washington Upward Bound application in the counseling office. The deadline to apply is February 27, 2015 but early submission of your application is encouraged. Do not delay and apply today! (Fina Marino, finam@u.washington.edu End 1/29)

Sealth’s Japanese program will be hosting 14 students from Japan for ten days in March. It’s super fun to host another high school student from Japan, and we still need a few host families. If you would like to have a guest from Japan in your home for ten days, please come see Mr. Hansell in room 167. (Joshua Hansell, jjhansell@seattleschools.org  End 1/29)

Hey Seahawks! Winter Ball is coming up! It will be at Within Sodo on January 31st from 8:30-11:30. Tickets will be $20 with ASB and $22 without. The theme is "Fly Me to the Moon"! Tickets will be on sale TODAY during both lunches in the ASB office. If you are planning on bring a guest from another school, guest forms must be completed BEFORE you purchase your tickets. Come to a fabulous concert celebrating Black History Month and the rich heritage of gospel, blues, funk, jazz, and reggae. Soul Jambalaya concert is Saturday, February 7, 2015 at 7:00 pm at Chief Sealth International High School Auditorium.  Featured artists include the Total Experience Gospel Choir, Westside Blues, Septimus, and our very own Denny International Middle School Jazz Band and Chief Sealth International High School Jazz Band.  Admission is free.
