Daily Bulletin

Friday, April 10th

Video Announcements today!
http://youtu.be/Ar23AniYzmQ

Good Morning Seahawks! Here are your Daily Announcements:

Reminder:  the library labs are closed this week due to ELA SBAC testing.  Good luck juniors!  Running Start juniors, remember you can drop in any period Tuesday through Friday to do your tests!

Today’s famous queer person is Saturday Night Live! Cast member, Kate McKinnon. She is the first openly lesbian cast member on SNL and is famous for her Justin Bieber, Ellen DeGeneres and Jane Lynch impressions. She was nominated for an Emmy award in 2014 and continues to perform on SNL. Recently cast alongside Kristen Wiig in the all-female “Ghostbusters” reboot, Kate’s approach to comedy reminds us all that visibility in every realm is important.

Remember, Seahawks: the Day of Silence is TODAY! Please respect your classmates who take a vow of silence for the day. Thank you!

Look up in the hallways! Check out the diverse artwork by senior IB Art students. This work is just part of their final portfolio for the IB Art exams - Congratulate them on a job well done! Sophomores and freshmen, is IB Art for you? Feel free to drop by and inquire - room 264. Ms. Autenrieth

GRAD NIGHT TICKETS on sale at lunch this Friday in the Galleria. Get your tickets while they are still just $100. No dress or tux to buy, no dinner to pay for, don't even need to get your hair done...just $100 and you'll have fun all night!!! Get your tickets before the price goes up after May 1.

Hey Seahawks! Did you miss the informational meeting on Tuesday about running for student government? Not to worry, you can still pick up a bright orange packet outside the ASB office. Come grab one ASAP so you can get your campaign video started over Spring Break. The next informational meeting is Tuesday, April 21st. See Ms. Martin before or after school in the ASB office with any questions.

Attention, seniors needing the Washington State History credit to graduate:  The due date for completing the packet is THIS Friday April 10.  Repeat:  Parts 1, 2 and 3 of the Washington State History packet are due the Friday before Spring Break.  Don’t mess around; get those into Mr. Lee (Room 237) ASAP.

Are you in need of service learning hours? On April 25th the YMCA is having the Healthy Kids Day at the West Seattle YMCA and you can earn up to 8 service learning hours. If you are interested, stop by the YMCA office to sign up.

Mayor Murray is convening an all-day Youth Opportunity Summit, with a particular focus on improving outcomes for young men of color.
This Summit is intended to launch a new conversation about how we can build on the good work of our community partners through
•    better alignment of resources,
•    better coordination across systems and agencies, and
•    lifting up the voices of young people to address longstanding disparities.

When: Saturday, April 11th, 2015, 8:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.
Where: Rainier Beach High School, 8815 S Seward Park Ave, Seattle, WA 98118

UW tutors will be in Ms. de la Fuente’s room every TUESDAY, starting today, for the rest of the year.  Come get help with math, especially Algebra, Geometry, and Algebra 2!

Hey you talented seniors! Your senior class officers will be holding auditions for graduation performances. So start writing up your senior speeches and looking up those memorable songs to sing. We will be meeting with you on April 21 in the little theater right after school. Hope to see you there!

Lunch today….Fab Friday – Chef’s Choice!
