    New IB Coordinator

Hello! My name is Allison Hays and I am happy to be the new IB Coordinator here at Chief Sealth International High School. My experience with International Baccalaureate began during my year as a student teacher, and I have been involved ever since. I was on the committee to apply for, plan, and implement IB at my previous school. I taught IB History, standard level and higher level, for four years. This past year, I became an IB examiner for History Paper 3 and Extended Essay. I’m looking forward to working with students, staff, parents/guardians, and the community to strengthen the IB Programs, make them accessible to all students, and help our students achieve their post-high school goals. If you have any questions, please contact me at akhays@seattleschools.org or at 206-252-8705.

     IB Exam Registration

The deadline for IB exam registration is NOV. 2nd. Students received IB Exam Registration Packets in their classes. These packets have all of the necessary information for how to register for exams and the associated costs of those exams. If any student needs to apply for Free or Reduced lunch or needs to apply for financial assistance for the costs of the exams, please see Ms. Hays ASAP. The exam registration packets are also available on the IB website.

      CAS and Service Learning

Both the Diploma Program (DP) and Career-Related Program (CP) have elements of Service Learning. For DP the requirement is called CAS (Creativity, Activity, Service), and for CP the requirement is called Service Learning. All seniors in these programs have been provided with guides that go over all of the requirements. The juniors will be given more information during Mentorship (date is TBD). The important thing for both programs is that students are active and involved in their communities. These requirements are a part of the IB programs because IB wants to help create well-rounded, global citizens; students who don’t sit and study 24/7, but students who are creative, who take care of themselves physically and mentally, and who serve their communities. If there are any questions about these requirements, please see Ms. Hays.

Ms. Hays, the IB Coordinator, will be there to answer any questions about the IB Programs.
