Chief Sealth Associated Student Body

Chief Sealth International High School is a diverse group of scholars. The Associated Student Body (ASB) is the student governing body that facilitates events here at CSIHS.

The Associated Student Body (ASB) at Sealth had the unique opportunity to reinvent itself in 2020. We did not hold an election. Many studies have shown that elections do not determine the quality of a leader, but rather just how well they run for something.

Elections were a barrier for students who didn’t think their voice would be heard in a standard popular vote election. We feel the “traditional” roles of officers and elections may be obsolete as we move forward in a school that is committed to providing an environment that is anti-racist and intersectional in all of its practices.

The Chief Sealth ASB and Student Council are now 100% opt in. Students that are interested in participating in this new model of student leadership and student perspective in our school are encouraged to join. Email Ms. Martin for more info on meeting times.

Who needs this form? Any non-CSI student attending a CSI dance. The guest pass must be completely filled out (including administrator signatures!) BEFORE purchasing tickets.

Associated Student Body (ASB) Funds

Publication of Information

Required per RCW 28A.325.050

An Associated Student Body (ASB) is a formal organization of students, including sub-component or affiliated student groups, formed at each public school within Seattle Schools. The programs of the ASB are any optional, noncredit, extra-curricular activity conducted in whole or in part by or on behalf of an ASB, during or outside regular school hours, within or outside school grounds and facilities and conducted with the approval of the school district or under the official designee to whom authority has been delegated to act on behalf of an ASB or sub-component group. ASB programs and activities must be of a cultural, athletic, recreational or social nature benefitting the ASB.

Money generated or collected, including fundraising proceeds, in conjunction with ASB activities, is public money which must be deposited into the ASB Fund. ASB public money may only be used for optional, noncredit, extra-curricular events and activities of a cultural, athletic, recreational, or social nature.
